I purchased some smoked turkey legs this morning for dinner tonight. The butcher told me to wrap them in foil and reheat them in the oven at 300 degrees, 20 minutes a pound. Using that method didn't seem right because I thought it would dry out the legs that are already partially cooked from being smoked. Can I reheat them on top of the stove using the same method as I would use to cook a pot roast (small amount of liquid in the bottom of the pan)? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks for your help.

Unless someone writes in to the contrary. I would follow the butcher's recommendation. It sounds good to me. Use a double thickness of heavy duty foil, or if you have the "release" type of foil, use it. Take the legs out of the refrig 20 - 30 minutes before putting them in the oven.

Just be sure to seal the foil tightly and you should be okay. You could try heating them at a lower temperature such as 200 to 250 if 300 makes you uneasy. Gloria's idea of bringing them to room temp first will shorten the heating time. The butcher is probably assuming that they are going directly from the refrig to the oven.

All of the suggestions sound good.

I'd make a good lentil soup with the leftovers!
