POPCORN JACK O’LANTERNS

MAKES 12
|
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 (10 1/2 ounce) bag, miniature marshmallows
1 4-serving-size package, orange Jello
3 quarts (12 cups) popped popcorn
green gumdrop spearmint leaves - or real mint leaves - cut in half
1 square (1 ounce) semisweet chocolate - melted (optional*)

Microwave for 1-2 minutes (or otherwise melt) the butter with the marshmallows, until the marshmallows are puffed and softened. Stir in Jello until well mixed. Pour this mixture over the popcorn in a large bowl, mixing lightly until the popcorn is well coated. With lightly greased or wet hands, shape the popcorn mixture into 12 balls. Top each ball with gumdrop leaves (or mint leaves) to create “stems.” Decorate with melted chocolate* if desired to make jack o’lantern faces.
IDEA: To make “rotten” apples - cut a small hole in an apple; stick a gummy worm into the hole.
