CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW SPIDERS
To make 2 dozen spiders you’ll need:
8 ounces, semisweet chocolate (8 squares, baking variety)
2 cups, (plus extra for “eyes”) miniature marshmallows
black or red string licorice (for legs)
assorted candies (for “eyeballs)
Melt the chocolate gently – just until you can stir it smooth. Stir in the marshmallows until they’re all completely coated with chocolate.
Drop the mixture by spoonsful onto a wax-paper lined tray (this makes the lumpy bodies of the spiders). Add strands of string licorice to make spider “legs.”
Use additional mini marshmallows (whole or cut in half crosswise) for eyes: stick them on with more melted chocolate, or butter (or use frosting if the chocolate on the bodies has cooled too much to hold the “eyes” in place) - adding candies in center of each for eyeballs. Refrigerate until all the chocolate parts are firm. Gross!
